Yes, the latest nightly builds can render them with various degrees of success; unfortunately it started to take more time than I had planned and I needed the developer for something else. We'll get back to that.
Hi Vlado, I was wondering if there was any news about this.
We are actively using Bercon maps in Vray and this would be a great improvement.
Could you do a list of the features that are accepted for the moment, like gradient yes but not the tiles for example...
One of the developers is looking to port the Bercon maps as a V-Ray plugin; once this is done, we will have to write it again for the GPU. Same for the multitexture.
If some good soul can rewrite the Bercon maps in OSL, it will generally be useful too.
Guys, I was on my way to ask all those question right now, and here it is,
great minds think alike
That's actually great news Vlado!
Bercon maps and something like multitexture are both the main drawback why we are not using RT in production ATM.
Once that's implemented, I reckon GPU render will have a massive leap forward as loads of people will finally be willingly to try it out (in production I mean).
I have to confess I'm also curious about when this is "kind of" planned to be released
