  • "use current imap" option

damn posted this in the wrong forum and cant see how to move it...?

im working on a camera path that uses a 2gb irradiance map. ive calculated it and now im doing test renders. and with such a huge file i really notice an obvious gap in the vray settings.

after rendering it says the irradiance map is in memory.

however i dont have the option just to use it. i have either "add to current map" or "from file"

one means it calculates more GI, and the other takes 10 minutes re-loading the imap off the hard drive before rendering.

why cant i just use the one thats in ram without reloading...?

wouldve saved me hours yesterday i think.

This is not specifically related to V-Ray RT, is it?

Anyways, we can certainly add a "from memory" mode, but you'll have to remember to switch it to something else when submitting renders to backburner. Another option (better in my opinion) is to just check if the file specified for the "From file" option is the same, and to skip re-loading it if it is already in memory.

    Best regards,
