  • Support for forest pro and railclone objects

Is this even possible? Forest and Railclone (in addition to Bercon maps) are key elements within our production pipeline.
    Kind Regards,

It is not impossible, but will require some work on our part to open up the API, and more work on part of the guys at Itoo to support it.

    Best regards,

I am pretty confident itoosoft would be up for it - they have a fabulous support team. One of the main uses of ForestPro is to create large numbers of trees/bushes/plants etc. Now obviously, RT can only go so far, and the many zillions of polygons created by lots of trees would be a major issue for RT. If Itoosoft could create a way of reducing polygons (in a user controllable way) for the trees, that would be very useful. I will emai lthe team and see what transpires.

Well, they do have the point clouds already, don't they?

Yes, which is a very useful tool. If RT could tap into displaying as variable density point cl;ouds, that would be a possible way forward, would it not?

It seems that I can get RT to render FP objects as long as I choose Render Mode 'meshes' and Points-Cloud (it actually renders the meshes, NOT the point cloud) in the Display drop down. It would be nice if it actually did render the points cloud as this would be far less processor intensive than the actual geometry. Is this a vray issue or an itoosoft issue?

              Hi all,

We are ready to work in the RT compatibility, that would be a great improvement for our plugins. Vlado, would be possible to render instances of high-poly trees in RT or should we use low poly models ?

About rendering the points cloud, it seems a complex issue because doesn't exists a real geometry, and the density changes with the distance to the camera. I will take a look to it.

By the way, we have problems rendering the proxies that are exported with the 'points cloud' option (i mean the points cloud from vray proxies, not the ours). It seems that the dots are rendered at a bad scale, but i can't find any method in the MeshFile class to handle it. Any suggestion, Vlado ? (i know the question is off-topic here, you can reply me by e-mail if you like).

              Thanks,
              Carlos Quintero
