  • Region render with RT - GPU in VFB

Would be nice with the ability to regionrender when using GPU rendering in Vray frame buffer..

You can do a region render in RT / GPU mode using the right click menu > draw region.

Or you mean the RT set as production renderer?

        OK, thank you.

I will forward this case to our developers, so they will try to add a support for region render in RT production mode.

            Hi,

We have update about this issue.
Support for RT region render in VFB is implemented and as soon as all tests are passed, we will add it to the stable 3.x builds.

              This is very good news..

Now we just need full support of Forest Pack with forest materials, Support for Multitexture and multiscatter...

Any news about these features for GPU.??

We have discussed this with Itoo and for the moment it looks too complicated. But I would love to get those working at some point or another.

                Best regards,
                Vlado

MultiScatter should work fine more or less, from what I know. If there's a case where it doesn't, can you send it to us at support@chaosgroup.com ?

Multitexture is another matter; see my reply above. If worse comes to worse, we may have to end up coding our own texture that works on the GPU and has similar functionality.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

Forest Color map works good with moskito render, so why its so complicated? It would be really great to make it work with GPU.

I also hope this soon to be working in RT..

I think that RT is close to be working as production render when some of these features are made:

                        - VRayDirt
                        - ColorCorrect
                        - Forest Color Materials
                        - Multitexture
                        - Vray Fur
                        - Vray displacement
                        - Different maps

                        GPU Wishes:
                        - Possibility of Vrayframe buffer working as a activeshade window that interactivly updates with new changes made.

But I am happy for the new support of vray render region in RT. That is great.

ColorCorrect already works to some extent. What other features from it do you need?

ForestPro/Multitexture we can't do. However, we can provide a texture with equivalent capabilities, perhaps.

The VFB already works for ActiveShade for the next SP, as well as the light cache.

We can make VRayDirt work (in fact, we have this in an internal version), but slows down the whole GPU code. We will have to think of a way to make it faster, or at least we can turn it on demand.

                          Best regards,
                          vlado

Sounds great Vlado. I am really looking forward to SP1..

I just read that you not supportet Colorcorrect in your list of supportet features. I had not testet this feature my self yet.

What about support for displacement, is that coming soon or also one of the things that slows down the GPU.???

It is not fully supported, but some common parameters work.

Everything slows the GPU down But for displacement specifically, this is coming you will just need more VRAM.

                              Best regards,
