  • Wood materials

I have a question about scanning wood materials. Because the maximum scan size is limited to 30x40 cm (1 x 1.3 ft), how do you handle larger scale wood materials? Depending on the type of wood a max size of 30x40cm can be a problem. Year rings, knots ect. Even with seamless tiling.

I wonder, maybe they can be merged...
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

we accept for custom scanning only materials that meet the device limitations, currently we can't scan 1m wood sample, but hopefully the next year this will be possible

And you can't stitch multiple scans to one material?

Actually we doing exactly this, the device that we call "wide" is working by assembling the material from pieces that are approximately 3cm, there is no other acceptable way to cover 40cm sample with 800 dpi. But we just can't put 1m wood piece in the scanner because there is not enough place, the device is a closed box, and its size produces the limitations
