  • Clearcoat on certain materials is very noisy

    Hey guys,
I have a slight problem here where the specular component of the clearcoat in certain materials is generating excessive noise. This is with default settings of V-Ray 5.2
Is there a way to avoid this?

The material is apparently carbon, the fast check shows nothing special, there is no glossiness variation , the glossiness itself is very high. Can you confirm that not all the coated materials are behaving like this, and if yes,can you provide a name of material that is behaving normaly?

Sorry for the inconvenience. After further investigation, we found a VrayLight with the "no decay" option enabled as the culprit. That light was carried over from an older setup. Setting it to physically plausible values, the noise was gone.
Also, any material with a glossiness below 1 was affected.
