  • Vray Scanned Material renders different with store with irradiance map set on lights

    Dear all,

I currently evaluate the Vray Scanned Materials and I found something out.
The rendering looks as the sample only when I set the following:

"Store irradiance map" set on all lights to "off".
"Don't use GI for primary rays" set to on in the VrayScannedMtl.

Switching both vice versa delivers the worst result, resulting in a rendering that seems as if the material is lit by a diffuse sky (GI) only, which is actually the sky color in our scene.

The traditional VrayMaterial doesn't have these obvious differences with the lights stored with irradiance map on and off, as far as I know from our renderings.

Is there a way to get rid of this or do I miss something?

I currently use Vray Advanced 3.4.

"Don't use GI for primary rays" is an option that is better to be always on, we even discussed to remove it
about the other option, "Store irradiance map" i have no answer, will investigate it

      Thanks Ivaylo,

the reason we switch on "store with irradiance map" on vray lights is, that we have in our aircraft scenes partly 700 different lights, and even with fewer lights, we get a huge amount of render speed up with this option. Would be great if the vrayScannedMaterial would look the same with or without that option.
