  • Render elements don't add up to beauty for ScannedMtl

    Hey,
I have a very strange problem in a particular scene. In the file attached, the render passes don't add up to the RGB beauty. I already merged into a new scene etc, but problem still persists.
If I create a completely new scene however, everything is fine. Never had this behaviour with the ScannedMtl, what is wrong with this scene?

Edit: I just found the culprit. The affect specular multiplier is set to 0.5 for the light.
When you reset that parameter to 1, the problem is gone. Can this parameter be supported for the VrayScannedMtl in the future?

Can you clarify what " the render passes don't add up to the RGB beauty" means? is it that adding render elements does not produce the final image, or something else?

Ivaylo, yes. Adding GlobalIllum, Lighting, Spec and Reflection etc. does not equal the final RGB image.

Is there something that can be done about that issue?

still not tried your scene, but can you make a test with normal vray material to see how it behaves?
the scanned material shader does not implement any render element calculations, we are relaying on vray to generate automatically all the render elements that can be extracted during the shading process.

The standard V-Ray material behaves as expected. The layering is correct, even if the affect specular multiplier is set to anything else then 1.
Ivaylo, take your time. It is not urgent.

i think the problem is resolved, if you need a fix you can use nightly build
