  • Get focus dist from camera not working

Does cloud not support an animated camera with a changing focus distance? Rendering with both 3dmax and standalone vray versions render correctly but when I submit to cloud, it renders with the wrong dof distance. Any help is appreciated.

This is using a standard max camera btw.

    Hello stereocolor_ab ,

We are happy to let you know that we can now export animated Focus Distance parameter even when Physical Camera is not present: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...7_08-01-52.mp4

You can find the updated feature in the lasted Nightly Build (starting from 27th of July): https://nightlies.chaos.com/main#/vray6houdini/nightly

Please, test it and feel free to share any feedback you may have.

        Hi,
I'm having the same issue in Houdini.
If I upload a scene with animated focus distance all frames gets the focus distance value of the first frame.
If I upload single frames as separate jobs they all render with the correct focal distance.

Please write to support@chaos.com about this, this will create a ticket and we can follow-up there. It would be best if we can check the original Houdini scene, or if you cannot share it please create a similar sample scene where the problem can be reproduced and send it instead.

            Hi Ivaylo,
I made a report from chascloud. We can take it from there and circle back to this thread if you find a solution. I got here from googling the issue so I'm sure others will as well.

              Hello stereocolor_ab

I just responded to your Chaos Cloud report. What you need to do is add a V-Ray Physical Camera, increase the value of the Shutter Speed and then animate the Depth of Field slider. After adjusting the settings you should be able to achieve what you aim for.

Thank you viktor_angelov, I can confirm that the Physical Camera solution works.
Great to hear you've escalated the bug, adding the Physical Camera into a project that previously wasn't dependent on it is a little cumbersome, would be great to have the Camera override work as well on cloud as it does when rendering locally.
