  • LightGen Problem

Hi, i use sketchup 2019 and Vray the latest version on win 11. When i generate light gen prewievs, it turns all lights off, but when it finishes, i can see all lights on in preview but no ligts in render, it keeps all lights off after finishing generations.. I don't know if it is supposed to be or not, but after finishing preview generation, my lights should turn on again in asset editor i think..

    Hello kenancakir ,

There are no changes to the Light Gen. "Disable lights on application" option disables the lights in Asset Editor and therefore in the render after you click on the Light Gen variant to apply it (they stay disabled unless you enable them manually). Lights (except for Mesh light) are always disabled in the thumbnails regardless of the state of this option.

Let me know if I answered your question.

    Kind regards,
    Iva

      Hello kenancakir,

Scene lights are disregarded while generating Light Gen variants and therefore artificial lights (except for Mesh lights and geometry with Emissive materials) do not appear in the Light Gen thumbnails. Whether or not the artificial lights get disabled in Asset Editor after applying the variant depends on the state of the "Disable lights on application" checkbox:

If "Disable lights on application" is unchecked - your scene lights will not get disabled after clicking on a thumbnail to apply a Light Gen scenario.

Let me know if this solves the problem.

      Kind regards,
      Iva

Hi, i am aware of disable light option. As you mention, in generated previews all lights disabled except mesh light in my scene. But after generation, all lights include mesh light are stays disabled in asset editor when i render as you see, it need to be turned on manually. As i remember, in previous versions after light gen generation finishes and you click render all lights turned on automatically. May be i remember wrong.

Edit: I mean, it was normal to disable lights in previews, but in render not, as i remember. That's why i tought something is wrong. May be You changed the way it works or i remember wrong. I can use both way.. Thank you.
