If I get 1U chassis, can I fit any of these: (this will be a custom build)
i7 3930K
E5 2687W
Dual E5 2687W?
Any other CPU you recommend for a 1U chassis? I’m concerned about MOBO with onboard Graphics and also thinking about cooling. Is 2U Better solution?
I need BEST performance VS Price ratio, in the smallest possible space. With that being said, then possibly couple of i7’s will be better in few 1U’s. 2687E just seems prohibitively expensive.
Also, when is this new XEON with 15 cores (30HT) suppose to be launched? Isn’t there a new i7 to replace the 3930K also coming soon?
I had the same problem last year and I come up with this rig.
Case: Google Search its the 1st one on list with 2x dvd With a new custom PSU from someone, I dont remember tbh. its 450W I think
Micro ATX case from asrock 2011 socket.
3930k OC to 4.5ghz
i80h cooler
32gb ram and 120gb ssd.
The trick is that I can stick 2x this motherboard/rig in the system. One on bottom where it should be and one on top custom drilled and it will fit. Its something I will do once I plan to expand that node. Is quite nice and cool looking so u could try something like that if u dont want to wait long.
I just ordered 2 new i7 3930k, each cpu was like $480 very good! They said they couldn’t make a reasonable 1U config though, which would be quiet. So I went with two small tower boxes…Cant wait, this cpu suppose to be the Shie…t!
I figured. I have a home office and can’t have them roaming around like a jet engine Which makes me wonder…that I probably will run out of power to support that many machines
You’ll have to add extra circuit breakers or a seperate DB board for the “office” part of the house
…or slap a couple hundred solar panels on your roof (and your neighbour’s) and you’re sorted
