Have you checked out the cost of buying the people in bulk? Individually they may be a bit expensive, but a bulk order brings the price per person down to reasonable levels I think.
Unfortunately most arch viz 3d people are poorly optimized when it comes to materials. Everything from their hair, skin, clothes, are all on one diffuse map that is pretty hard to break apart since the texture islands are still in a random scanned format. This leads to people with very waxy skin and melted plastic hair. For now, I just want 3d people who don’t look like idiots with stupid poses. I see you 3D man, no need to wave at the camera.
Ohhhh how I watched the Hellblade Dev Diary in envy when they were creating the main character.
to be fair the renderpeople ones come with masks for each material type ( hair, skin, shoes, clothes) so with a bit of work, you could take them up a level. the hair and eyes are the things that bug me. a few artfully placed strands ( even opacity mapped planes) would help enormously breaking up the “helmet effect” and a glint in the eye would avoid that “dead” look.
Any recommendations for 3d people for middle, far distance? Maybe a collection that has a good range to scatter? Close up I will stick to photoshop, but for filling out scenes some light 3d people would be usefull.
