No it’s not portman, it’s anobody, but I used portman in my refs
I found her face proportion really nice, but I had to mix it with others to get some distance from her, when you will see the whole thing you’ll see that it’s not her.. especially now.. I made big improvement in the jaw, mouth and ears proportions yesterday, I found her now much better
I had some something that was bothering me with her face proportions, now feel’s good I think, moe natural and appeling, I will post the whole head this weekend, I just ened to do the hairs after that and some jewellery and cloths.. I will need more RAM..
BTW, I’m using the low poly mesh with displacement map etc
Incredible work! I have real admiration for artists that can produce this quality of work…especially with the human body. I would love to have the ability to produce to this standard. Did you use normal maps for the very close up details or is it purely displacement ?

Great stuff. Wish I had time to learn to do stuff like this. Would you recommend any particular sites for tutorials or tips ? I sometimes visit zbrush central. A great community there. I’ve not life drawing experience or the likes. Is that where you started ?

It’s hard to say I don’t know your experience level etc. But for sure, to me, for doing realistic character you need to me good in drawing, I mean having a good eye for details, shapes and volumes. It’s a lot of observation. I would say maybe you can start by just doing parts of a face to start with, like only a nose, a ear, an eye,etc and then once you can pull these element well then do a full face, I think it can be a good starting point. Otherwise there is a lot of tutorial website out there like Gnomon workshop,etc. Maybe if a lot of peoples are intereste I could do online course who know
explaning the importance of edgeloops for propoer deformation in rigged model, some tricks to get the volumes right,etc etc. lot’s of stuff just in the modeling side, after that a lot also in the shading, detailing like in Zbrush etc.. So it’s a lot of tings to learn and at start it can be confusing, too much informations, so having a good course on what really matter and with great workflows out of the box would save a lot of time of course.
Hey Bigguns, very nice progress! I forgot to ask, did you model in that skin detail or did you use a texturing app like Mari to drive tones of 4k multitiled photo-sourced displacement maps? That displacement is pretty incredible.

Emcs07 : thanks mate. Everything is done by hand ( except skin textures and eyes ,they are from pics derived) skin details are done in zbrush by hands with alphas and the diffuse map is done in photoshop by hand too.And all the textures, (displace,diffuse,teeths,etc) are 8k maps ( not for the eyes thought).

I dont have any experience with morphing. Do you know a good place for a tutorial? Is it done with the morph modifier in 3DSMax?
Yes you can do it with the morph in max. But mine she will be rigged by a friend, I will just do some facial morph to give her more expression and life, now she’s just in a neutral state ^^
So guy’s here’s what a photoshoping of the haircut she will have so she look something like that iwth the hairs, of course it’s adding a lot I think.
