I’ve been noticing occasionally the loss of functionality with the bloom/glare controls in corona. I just tried to have a brand new max scene open, importing a model and popping a corona sun with a corona sky in the env slot.
I can’t get any flares, no matter how high I set the values for bloom&glare and how low the threshold.
Please see the values on the attachment, I can send a scene for analysis if needed (although this is most likely user error of too many hours in front of the screen
Regards, and thanks!
Do other controls work fine, for example blur/sharpen? (you should immediately see its effect)
Bloom and glare sometimes takes time to appear. Have you tried waiting a bit longer?
Also, just to make sure: you are not using “highlight clamping” setting in Render Setup > System tab?
I’ll give it a shot right now, my machine is fairly fast (1950x) and I tried with values of 100 for each Bloom and Glare, and threshold .001, and no go…
Highlight Clamping is at 0.0 (Maru)
Sharpening/Blurring is working fine, I can see the difference between on and off clearly.
What happens if you save the CXR and try adding bloom and glare in the CIE? You could send along the CXR and we can test - or the scene itself too of course, that would be even better The private uploader can be used if the scene can’t be shared publicly. Thanks!
Voilá, it works!
What can I do to have it on the IR render though, I enjoy this feature so I can adjust stuff interactively, as you can imagine… …it has always worked fine until 1.7 HF2, where is started behaving oddly…
It’s a perspective camera - it’s not the coronacam, good call, that’d be the 1st thing I’d check too - The renders you are seeing are with HF3 - check the window name on the previous image posts
I will try in another scene to see what is happening…
Ultimately I will find this is still what Ondra calls a User Error!
Would probably need the scene itself to explore further. On the HF3, sorry, I noticed you’d said “worked up until HF2” so thought you might still be using that! Does this scene work as expected with HF1 or earlier?
No Maru, the Dev/Experimental Stuff was turned off, I just tried turning it on and checking and it is clear. Turning it on won’t change the no glare behaviour.
Got the scene, will pass it along to developers. B&G doesn’t work for me there either - however, if I import all the objects into a new scene, then it starts working as expected. Was the scene created using an older version of Corona by any chance?
No it hasn’t it has been done from scratch, just imported some objects from my library to them. I can have a look at the library objects, maybe they’re from an old corona version? Although I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t work, as this is a post effect, right?
Solution already discovered - you are viewing the LightMix pass, but LightMix has bloom and glare disabled (Which was why importing to a new scene changed things, it defaults back to the Beauty pass, as no LightMix is setup)
Oh boy… User Error… I’ll be sure to check that the next time I get it, it was surely always that all along - Thanks guys!
Made sure my max start had this enabled so it is always enabled by default - definitely it was the reason why it was happening consistently every now and then. Problem solved, thanks Marcin!
