It was relesed few days ago for MAX but it’s a little expensive since you have to pay a license per render node…Autograss was like that and they had to change it later to sell it better.
Is somebody here using it?

$100 with free render licenses (like most other plugins) would have been an instant buy for me, but $300 with individually licensed render nodes? Hell no.

Agreed! Way too expensive if we would install it on our renderfarm.
you dont need this anyway, Bercontile is far more powerfull ![]()
it does look good, but even for our small setup, we would be looking to spending something like 1000euros - given that fact I think ill stick to good old photoshop for texturemaps.
I can’t understand this retail mentality of charging for render nodes - it automatically makes software out of financial reach for most companies. We looked at Vue a couple of years back but, when it came to the render nodes it all of a sudden became unworkable - they also charged for a bit of software to manage the render nodes ! Surley they could have thrown that in with 10 nodes or something.
Ditto. Same with quite a few bits of software actually.
Was looking at this plugin yesterday. Thought it looked great, but the price looks not so great.
I was in the beta for this. It is a very good plugin with some work, but I agree with duke2 on the price.
On top of the price, Autodesk, Microsoft, Adobe, etc allow to install thier software (1 license) in two computers (desktop and laptop) as well as a lot plugins for Adobe, but these plugins can be installed once…I use my laptop alot since i’m working remotly at least 2 months a year when I’m going on “vacation”…to me buying another license is ridiculous since the host application can be installed without paying a cent… I like Adobe’s system where you can authorize/deauthorize a computer…plugins should go in that direction instead creating very complicated licensing system (for legal users)…sometimes it would be easier downloading ilegals copies and forgetting all the drama and pain.
Just posted on cgtalk…
We are aware of this pricing model and already have decided to change it.
The new price for the rendernode extension with unlimited rendernodes! will be 99,- € / $119.
So no single rendernodes for 49,- € anymore. We are currently testing the new rendernode plugin which will become available hopefully
within the next few days.Best,
Martin
Pricing is still high ! I really wonder if there will be enough buyers to yustify developing this long enough. Once you a relying material libraries on this it could be very disappointing if this is just a plugin for 1 or 2 rellease cycles. I remember another (Russian?) texturemaker plugin around the same price (bit cheaper) which did not live that long ![]()
Thanks for all your interest in BRIX and your valuable feedback. As reposted from CGTalk, I´d like to jump in
and let you know that we have decided to change product policy. BRIX still will cost 249,- € / $299 which we
believe is a fair price for what it offers. If you take a look at what is contained in the product, there are over 100
ready to use materials with over 5.100 hand edited hires bitmaps, plus the very flexible plugin itself. Its a new
kind of product, its not only a plugin and not only a texture library, its both in one.
Regarding the rendernodes, all of you are right. Thats why we have changed the pricing and the rendernode
plugin itself. The new rendernode plugin will allow unlimited rendernodes for 99,- € / $199. We will also offer
a bundle BRIX full version + Rendernodes unlimited for 299,- € / $379.
If you still don´t think its worth the money, please check out our BRIX Lite Edition that contains 8 of the full 100
materials for free. You can use BRIX Lite Edition commercially for whatever you like. BRIX Lite Edition is available
immediately since about 20 Minutes … BRIX Lite Edition link …
Best,
Martin
Nice to see a company responding to market feedback (rather than lashing out at their potential customer base
)

It is nice! Moving away from pay per render node was a smart move!!!
About the price… It’s not just a plugin, from my short test so far it is also a material pack - an extensive one.
Do take that into account when you evaluate the pricing.
Besides, I’m not familiar with any thing else out there that will handle the tasks BRIX seems to be doing.
Floor Generator along with Multi Texture from CG-Source was a blessing but limited and more time consuming i think (taking the actual geometry generation out of the equation)
I’ll be testing it along with some other new things in my Example Entry for the HOVER challenge that will start soon!!!
Cheers
has anyone tried the free one?
http://www.materialwerk.com/html/product\_brix\_le.html I don’t see a download link.
Hello Bobby,
you need to fill in your email and will receive the download links for the corresponding versions automatically.
It’s cool that it support Maya. Usually Maya always misses out on these types of plugins. ![]()
Hi Bobby,
you are right, there was a problem with the email formular and an iframe in Internet Explorer. Its fixed now and should be visible properly.
reg. Maya support: We will support Maya, but don´t have a release-version for Maya yet. We´ll post the news when it
will be available.
Best,
Martin
