Capture detail with IR...

Hi everyone,

I have a short animation of a interior, a little room with just one little window + some interior lightning. Nothing fancy…

Anyway, I can’t use BF+LC because it take too much time to render frames… and I’m fed up to have problem like this with IR : I have some splotches on detailled geo like window frame, doorframe, etc. even with detail enhancement
I precal my LC and my IR.. All is quite fine but I always have difficulties with tiny details…
It’s like it’s impossible to have enough sharpeness with IR…

What can be done in this situation ??
I tried with portal, same shit…

I always try to use BF+LC because i love it but I really can’t for this purpose

I read a lot of post from a long time now but today, I’m still struggling with this.

Some advices please ?

You could try detail enhancement in the IR settings. Other than that start with a high or very high preset, then set to custom and adjust if needed. Also lower the interpolation samples if you have a high max rate and high subdivs (try 100+ for subdivs and 10 for interp samples).

Don’t forget that you have subdiv multipliers per object now, so you can simply increase those for the offending objects.

Thanks Rens, it’s what I’m trying… But I was thinking that I could raise interpolation samples then let detail enhancement do the job… If I decrease interpolation samples, I’m afraid of differents blotchiness at each frames… Don’t know, I have to try, I guess

Thanks Deflaminis, yes, I also tried that without succes.. maybe, I have to push more this value

Whatever, thank you guys, I will continue to test !

The amount of time you spend testing could be spent rendering BF!

You could also uncheck Use IrrMap option in the frames materials, thus forcing these objects to be rendered with BF - no more GI accuracy problems with those.

Thanks !! I forgot that trick

That’s a good call!
