This is what I came up with when testing Marvelous Designer. This is primarily a cloth-designing app whose amazing simulation engine (as Kizo first pointed out in a post on ronenbekerman) can be successfully applied to furniture-making. Kizo’s post and output made me very curious. This was done with the 30-day trial using a Max base mesh and reimported in Max after decimation in ZBrush. Altogther about 300.000 polys after decimation.

Indeed, but Marvelous Designer makes it pretty easy. Well worth a try if you’re into interiors and furniture modelling (or clothing, of course, which I’m not).
We got onto this at our old place a while ago, it’s amazing. Only used it for simple stuff like curtains and throws though - not tried doing anything as complex as a sofa with it, that needs some looking into!
