Funny thing is months ago when i raised the corona topic me and a friend laughed saying i bet vray will become like corona in more ways or buy them out!!! When i saw the announcement on fb it was just too funny, so now vlado has to admit, he hasnt been using vray to render since he tested corona haha just messing man
Also vlado, i hear of a possible name change to Vrona or Coray, if this is true, dang

Would be cool to see Corona’s Bloom and Glare and tonemapping over in the VFB.
I have switched all my interiors to Corona, it’s an amazing piece of software, lightmixes, multi region etc save me hours of work. I love Vray but I’ve found Corona to suit my workflow better.
This is great news. Like I said on facebook it’s like if Nintendo was merging with Sega back in the 90’s, we’ll get the best of both 
I think one of the things that is going amiss from the users’ perspective is often scale.
We wouldn’t get to 250 people, including all the ancillary, and very important, functions, if we polled the numbers together.
This is still a very familiar endeavor, with extremely direct channels to all the key people from the outside in.
There is no layer between the decision makers and the users, unlike in *much* bigger operations.
Proof of it is in the post two before this one: how much closer to the fire can one get? 
Doubt is free and allowed, however we ought to keep in mind the very important details of this operation, for therein will lie all and any of the differences with what has come to pass before.
If Chaos wanted people’s money so badly, trust me on this, they could have extorted it in many a creative way, many times over, by now.
And yet we have 15 years of history saying a license is paid at the time of a major release, and the money is returned back with the bonus of three to four years of updates, and performance boosts.
In the same timeframe, one could instead observe what others did, to both their products and quality thereof, and their ways of interacting with the users, and of getting to the users’ wallets.
If that comparison isn’t soothing, i don’t know what could be…
I’ve been fiddling with Vray for over a decade, and if there is one thing I feel does not apply to Chaos Group, it is greed. Regardless of their relatively new render node policy, which I can’t judge as I don’t have that size of an operation, the software really remains a bargain compared to almost all other tools in my arsenal.
However, from a purely personal standpoint, the development speed in terms of workflow and general elegance is a different matter. As one of the smartest and most technically astute individuals in the industry I don’t think Vlado fully understands the need for simplicity, quite frankly because I don’t think he is interested in it. I guess when it is all clear to you, technical clutter becomes less obstructive. I see a different approach in Corona as something that could be very complementary, although there is no doubt in my mind that the products long term needs more differentiation than that. I can’t think of any products from the same company where one isn’t the clear big brother or they serve different market segments.

Corona focus on architectural visualisation and vray for everything else?A while ago the Corona guys have made it clear that they want Corona to be the best archviz renderer on the market, so I guess they have picked a direction already. Of course, a renderer needs to do many other things as well (hair, volumes, skin etc). Eventually I think it will depend on the users and what they want from the products, and what makes sense from an implementation point of view.

Ah, you mean you didn’t know about the internal communication at Chaos Group being exclusively based on special integrals and third-order derivatives?
We use neither English nor Bulgarian, at all.
Makes for definite savings when converting it to code.

Yes, I Think many people here would like that…I use Vray for architectural visualization and Corona does very good job there because of the simplicity of the settings, on the other hand, I love Vray but if they are now part of the same family as a user and depending on the direction that Chaos Group wants to take for Vray I would consider being on the Corona side. That decision is only because Chaos Group now owns Corona.

It’s just been a few weeks I intended to buy a Corona license. Just for the sake of doing some (larger scale) interiors with it. Not because they would be better than done with VRay, but just to differentiate my skills. It’s actually plain rediculous having to buy full licenses when you probably only need one of them ( or the combination of them) full time. Until I heard of the merge I would have bought a Corona license, but now I wonder what is wisdom in regards of combined future power. Do I really need Corona NOW… do I wait what goodies we get from this …will there be a reduced VRay/Corona pricing for Corona/VRay users ? It’s all a bit of a guess. Anyway… it’s not my intention to switch …I even still do some project in finalRender … just because it works better in some cases…

I had a project about a collapsing building with all the debree, smoke, etc. which rendered faster with all GI turned on. Just also mentioning it was all about speed…not about quality…
About Corona…will probably get me a license anyway anytime soon
The first thing I thought when I heard the news was, brilliant thinking… now all V-Ray users will buy a Corona license and a lot of Corona people will eventually buy a V-Ray license. I had a Corona license, but I canceled it because I trusted V-Ray would do its best to top anything Corona was doing. I am a loyalist. Now, I’ll probably purchase Corona again once the two are seamlessly integrated.
