What about the fluorescent tube? The first request dated back to 2011, so did I miss something in beetween?
Lot of us dislike to use the trick of vray mesh light because it is not straight forward.
Vray is a tools for Designer/architect not for Guru CG artist, so the simplest the better.

while i agree as many light types as possible are good, id wholeheartedly disagree with “Vray is a tools for Designer/architect not for Guru CG artist”
