I thought vrmat converter would accomplish this but I’m not getting it to work.
I’m in max 2016 vray 3.0 and I guess scripspot’s VRAYmtlconverter v2.5 isn’t compatible with 2016
Any other easy conversions out there?
Thank You
There’s already a built-in converter that does this job (plus more) which I’ve used many times to convert Standard materials to Vray materials. Just right click in the viewport and from the lower right quad menu click “V-Ray Scene Converter”.
I tried that before posting this Alex_M. Not doing anything. After doing a “convert scene”, I click on my imported revit model with the get material eyedropper and everything is generic autodesk materials.
We talked about this before. There is a paid script out there that works, but the built in convertor doesn’t.
.
Yes Bobby but that was awhile back and I was hoping things have changed. And from what I’m hearing in other forums, the new .vrmat material converter in Vray 3.0 is supposed to do the trick. But it’s not here.
I’m also hearing right clicking and choosing vray scene converter is supposed to work but that’s not happening either. Short answer is- I guess you’re right.
What paid version have you resorted to?
Thanks,
Phil
I never went the paid route. I refused to pay for something that should be standard.
How many materials are we talking about?
Personally since I would be tweaking the Vray materials anyways I would just redo them all from scratch or pull some from my library. If you use the Slate editor and select the Generic Material at least you will have the bitmaps there to grab.
I use the autodesk material converter script. pretty cheap and the only script that works properly

That exactly how I handled it[quote=“Jason Stewart, username:Jason_Stewart”]

Not a huge amount Jason. Brought a full house model into max to do a kitchen rendering. I can manually manipulate all of the materials without too much grief but would like to know if any new tricks are out there.
