CORONA 14 Image Editor - no more "Save as TIF" pop-up to confirm save properties

It’s unbelievable that, right in the middle of a submission, we discovered that our saved rendered CXR files—when opened in the CRN Image Editor—cannot be saved as TIFF with alpha enabled, nor can we choose the desired bit depth. The files are saved by default in 16-bit without alpha.
We had to download and install the older v13 Image Editor just to continue working and import them into Photoshop with proper alpha transparency.

What’s odd is that this issue only happens in the Image Editor. In 3ds Max, when the render finishes and you save as TIFF, the correct dialog appears as expected. The problem is strictly in the Image Editor.

Honestly, some bugs from Chaos are just a real disappointment.

Agreed!

I have already reported this very annoying bug about a week ago. Hopefully a fix is on the way…

This is reported as (Report ID=CMAX-2009). We did overlook this, sorry.

Hello, how did you solve this problem? I’m using Corona Image Editor 12.

I didnt. They did. They solved it in the next update.

Tip: if you really need to use Corona 12 for some reason, you can use Corona 12 and the Corona 14 Update 1 Hotfix 1 Corona Image Editor at the same time. Just use the unpack option in the installer and go to \Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Image Editor.

Could you please explain in detail how to use Corona 12 along with Corona 14 Image Editor Update 1 Hotfix 1? I didn’t quite understand.

UPDATE: I managed to install Corona 14 Image Editor Update 1 Hotfix 1. However, I still can’t see the save dialog where we can select the DPI.

Run the Corona 12 installer, select “unpack” option, in the resulting directory go to \Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Image Editor.
However, after trying CIE from Corona 12 Update 1 Hotfix 1, I do not see DPI controls there either. So possibly it was never there.

UPDATE: I managed to install Corona 14 Image Editor Update 1 Hotfix 1. However, I still can’t see the save dialog where we can select the DPI.

The DPI option is not there yet. The task for adding it is reported as (Report ID=2305).
For the time being, you need to open your file in another 2D editor and set DPI there.
