I noticed that Intel Denoiser doesnt work on 4K (3840x2160) Component element Pass. The noise is removed only from the Beauty Pass. Nvidia and Corona Denoisers are fine.
Also can you add an option - that will prevent denoising on the Beauty Pass? This is mostly for the Corone Denoiser that takes some time to evaluate. When I am rendering Comonent element Pass the denoiser process the beauty pass and the component pass. So the processing time is doubled. But I am NOT SAVING the beauty pass - beacuse only work on component pass - so because of that I sometimes loss 15 second per frame..
Hi, which exact Corona and 3ds Max version are you using?
Ad 1 - I tried with Corona 15 HF1 + 3ds Max 2027 and couldn’t reproduce this. Denoising works on all elements. I checked with 3840x2160 resolution and, just in case, and even larger one (4000px). I also saved from the VFB as .jpg and CXR, then opened in Corona Image Editor. If you could list the exact steps you are making to trigger this, that would be very helpful.
But I got a case where it doesn’t work fully. I mean the Component Pass is denoised but not fully. I am attaching images. The Beauty Pass is more denoised than Component Pass. In any resolution. I also send you the scene file in priv message.
ps. The alpha pass also is not denoised - is it possible to add this option?
Ad 2 - I make new topic there, this option will be helpful
I was able to reproduce the issue in your scene. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any solution/workaround, and currently I don’t know if it’s expected or not. My guess would be that it is - there is probably not enough information to get proper denoising, but on the other hand, why is beauty so clean?
This is now reported under the ID (CMAX-2482) and I will be sure to notify you once there are any news from the dev team.
For now, the best I can think of is denoising in post.
