I am attempting to get decent dispersion through a prism. Unfortunately my results are not near the ones shown in the Vray 2.0 dispersion video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zys-yKIt-ls
There was a thread recently that was about this. The person who started the thread also posted optimization techniques and got it rendering faster. I can’t remember the name of the thread but it was in the past month or so.
Vray Light is used instead of directional light , since we faced some issues with adjusting the size of the light cone.
The pyramid settings are changed because it produced very wide dispersion rays by default.
For better results Environment subdivisions and Caustic settings must be increased - but this will lead to slower rendering times.
Here is a quick scene I set up after watching the Chaos Group video. Hope it helps. I also wrote a tutorial for 3D World Magazine on caustics and dispersion, not sure if you have access to the magazine? 3D World Coverage | Creative Bloq Dispersion 001.zip (65.1 KB)
