i have rendered a few objects with V-Ray displacement (latest demo) and as long as i have a meshsmooth modifier applied it looks good.
Now i want to do some hieroglyphs on a object that has sharp corners (90 degrees).
Im unable to get a clean result.
I have the edges chamfered a bit already but the edges look not clean.
They look like they have small dents or dark pixels on it.
I tried 2d and 3d displacement and all possible options, what can i do?
Like all my diplacement maps i have done them in Z-Brush (i know that i have to flip the map for max) and i have tested with GUV and AUV mapping.
I have also done a test with the pixolator test file (the sword) from the zbrush forum. The displacement only looks good when you use a meshsmooth modifier on the base object.
If you don´t use meshsmooth the object looks exploded ( no matter if keep continuity is checked or not).
Is there some magic trick to get a clean result from V-Ray displacement?
And when i add a meshsmooth to it but use 0 iterations it changes nothing.
I already added the chamfered edges because i saw a posting that this will help.
All i want is a simple object that has sharp edges and nice displacement, without thinking about workarounds and changing the geometry to make it work.
Seems to be impossible with MAX renderer at this time?
