Distributed Rendering / Licence claryfication

Hello

I like to use 2 or maybe 3 of my older computers for test/distributed rendering.
I read in a documentation that extra licenses for using “render slaves” are not needed, only a connection to the licencing server.
After setting up my pc’s for testing only my "Master* PC is rendering and the other ones can’t obtain a licence.
While searching the internet for a solution and reading all kind of information about vray licencing i’m a bit confused.
So I would like to ensure that I really don’t need a special licence for it to work.

thanks for any clarification…

they need to find the license to start working. you have point the computer where you have your hardware key.(dongle)
they need to be in the same network of course.

You do need a render node license for each render slave.

i think for every license you are allowed for 10 renderslaves , so basicly it should work .
i used to use Dr alot it shouldnt be hard to setup,
have a look at this help page .

Pre- VRay 3 you could have 1 license and then you can render on 10 DR nodes.
This has changed with VRay 3.
You now need a RENDER NODE license for EACH RENDER NODE and you need a GUI LICENSE (Workstation) License for each pc that will be used to work with VRay

Hmm OK, looks like I have to buy some render node licenses then because I’ve alredy ordered the hardware… Bummer :rage:
Anyhow, thank you guys for the claryfication !.
