Distributed Rendering Questions - script to turn spawner on, processor affinity

Hello,
Looked around the forum, but couldn’t find much information on if there’s any scripts or anything for Distributed Rendering.
At work I’m using other workers computers as my farm, and was wondering if there’s any way to have the Vray Spawners automatically turn on at 6pm or so.
Also I’m adjusting their processor affinity so the Spawner doesn’t use all their cores, but that resets anytime 3ds Max restarts, and I’d like that not to happen.
Finally, how do you kill the Spawner without restarting your computer, can’t seem to kill the darn thing, it just pops back up.

Has anyone gotten in depth with Distributed Rendering, and come up with some scripts or plug ins?

Thanks in advance - Chris

3ds Max 2013 + Vray 2.3 + Windows 7 64-bit

ooo, I’m interested in this as well.

To kill a spawner you should be able to find the task in the lower right corner of the task manager, right-click and exit the spawner.
I haven’t gotten into auto starting or setting affinities yet with spawners - interesting that you mention that the spawner, even when set with a specific affinity, 3dsmax will launch with full usage of the cores. hmm.

You might also try something like this, Process Lasso (http://bitsum.com/processlasso/) - although I haven’t gotten into this stuff yet.

Haven’t tried it but have taken a look

Is it registered as a Windows service? If yes, you will need to stop the service itself.

Vlado

Simple answer is Deadline by thinkbox.
It isn’t cheap but it packs a lot of features in.
The 6.1 release adds a lot of functionality for Vray DR
