Hi all.
This is killing me.
I get a black frame when doing a distributed render across our network.
I have run the wizard on a single machine in the render farm, I have selected d:\max5.1\scenes as the temp folder, d:\max5.1\3dsmax.exe as the app and d:\max5.1 as the exe’s location.
I assume this is right. On my main machine, I have set the projects directory as p:\temp which is a drive shared as p on each machine.
Hi Glenn,
Are you rendering a large still or animation?
We have had some problems with DR stability in general, assuming we are talking about VRay DR instead of Backburner…
Perhaps some other settings would be helpful in diagnosing the problem.
Are you using Bucket mode for GI calculation or Single?
Are you using a stored imap or on the fly?
When you say it renders black, does it take about the right amount of time to render and then appears Black or does it speed through the render (too quick to be actually rendering)?
Have you tried closing 3ds max and rebooting and restarting. Have instances when this has fixed the problem.
Looks like DR will only work if VRay is in the local plugins folder, not on a network folder. Not in the office, so can’t test it myself, but it may be your problem.
