folks, i looking to jusrt have ME/slate one screen (smaller monitor) and main max window on the 27"
how is this achieved as I’m sick of dragging it around the screen

The Slate ME should open wherever it was when you last opened / closed it, at least it does for me. It always opens on my second monitor (though I do have to drag it around e.g. for video recording or sometimes just because I want it side by side with the VFB on the monitor right in front of me… in which case it opens where I last left it there too 
). Is that not working for you? Basically put it on the second monitor by dragging it over there, then never drag it any place again and it should stay there for you.
I can confirm that slate editor window opens where it was closed last time. Maybe try to delete 3dsmax.ini file if it doesn’t work for you (make sure to save a copy first).
