Dynamic Memory Limit and Deafault Geometry

I read the manual couple of times and searched the forum as well but still feel confused about these settings.

This is what I typically do:
I set dynamic memory limit 20GB/24GB and set the default geometry “auto”, or
I set dynamic memory limit 14GB/16GB and set the default geometry “auto”

But recently one colleague told me that he lowered the memory limit and got faster render times.

I think I don´t have a good understanding of this specific setting and the manual is not clear to me.
I need someone to explain in detail about this setting and the render times.

This would only happen if his scene was heavy and he had set the memory limit so high that Windows had to swap parts of the memory to disk.

So what I do is correct ?
To set the dynamic memory limit to 90% of physical RAM and leaving the geometry at “auto” is best?

So when should we set the geometry to Dynamic or Static (I just want to learn to grab a better understanding of the render theory) ?

“In V-Ray 2.0 and later, you can set this to 0 to remove any limit in that case, V-Ray will take as much memory as needed.”

So maybe using the 90% rule is the best option, not just set to 0?
