if im not mistaken this trailer is rendered with vray…
great work from Blur..!
also the trailer from Dark Souls 2
the second one… huge… insane…
Both are V-Ray, yes; excellent work indeed ![]()

Was it made in Max or Maya? I thought Blur switched to Maya a couple of years ago…
From what I know, the rendering was done in 3ds Max; a lot of the animation was done in Softimage.

Didn’t blur switch to render man at one point? I guess these days its either vray or arnold…
no… they used brazil than mr and now vray…
blizzard switched to renderman…
And V-Ray for some matte stuff ![]()

Simply awesome.
some more background info…
It’s funny because once upon a time I would have been like “Omg, kill me kill me kill me”
Now I’m like “Hmmm, glossy maps need work :P”
Insane trailer and animation
We’re just getting old and picky ![]()

Its cool of course, I wonder what were the render times for those
Also, the look I think is heavily set by comp, I can just see the insane amount of passes coming out of there.
From what I was told, Blur try to keep compositing to a minimum and try to get as much as they can in the render itself.

You know… I’ve come to accept that the true limiting factor for visual quality in CG these days is the time (or lack thereof) an artist is given to work on an Asset / Scene. ![]()
Great work from Blur and V-Ray as always. ![]()
I did that recently on a certain “Movie”. I had to keep the dof in cg. Due to amount of layers we would otherwise have to slice with. Regardless of that I ended up with 64 render layers each ranging from 10-60 render elements
I seriously doubt achieving something complicated as what they had was done in a few passes ![]()
But then again, Ilm does things all in cg…so I hear anyway.
I was helping them with Dark Souls 2 the bridge scene (modeling, texturing, materials, lighting) so yep it was rendered in vray ![]()
some insides…
Thanks for the link!
