sometimes i take fotografic footage from the sites we the archviz for.. currently they are of no use because there is no option to “tag” objects as “backplate” so they dont receive and cast shadows?
very basic feature - should be there!
best way would be if the settings would be taken from host app as in sketchup for example we can switch shadows casting and receiving on off on group/components individually…
I too would love to see this feature. We create “billboard” backdrops to many of our models to show the potential view from within models. Like others have stated, sketchup has this control which is a very handy feature. Will put a request in for this feature as well.
Yes I would love this feature as well, being able to disable ‘cast shadow’ for a group/component. There are quite a few reasons artists would want this flexibility.
This is exactly what i’m doing as well. It could be great if enscape had a “site backdrop” feature object that you can drop an image into and in the sketch up / enscape window it can be scaled and rotated to position completely devoid of shadow casting. What is the work around? Self-illumination doesnt help much because my view is to the south, directy where the sun falls.
I’ve been having success adding a backdrop (with the sky cut out in a transparent .png file) into the enscape horizons folder. This allows you to select your new backdrop from the sky settings. I’ve noticed it’s a little fiddly in terms of Y scaling, but works ok after a bit of trial and error. The folder is found here: “C:\Users******\AppData\Local\Programs\Enscape\Renderer\SystemData\Textures\Horizons” and you can use one of the preset ones as a temaplate for the size and proportion.
