Enscape 2.7 BIM feature

First of all I love the BIM feature, but some things that might be useful to change.

  1. Nothing happens when you click on objects from linked Revit file. It would be really helpful if we can click on those objects and it tells you all the specification of it and what category that object is in.

  2. If we have an option of hiding objects in enscape instead of hiding it in Revit.

Thanks a lot for your feedback @Shahin.dwg , and welcome to our forum. I’ve gladly forwarded your two wishes accordingly!

Would like to add being able to reduce the amount of data would be great

Most of the time would be only interested in about 5-10 parameter fields

If we could set them before export or hide in Enscape

Thank you - I have forwarded your feedback.

what is this BIM feature of which you speak?

In our latest preview, or with our latest release tomorrow, Enscape 2.7, we’ll provide the option to display BIM information inside Enscape. Check out what’s coming in general with 2.7 here: Enscape 2.7 Preview 5 FAQ

The BIM feature is showing up and working properly when used as a plugin within Revit, however a standalone exe or web file exported from Revit loses this BIM functionality. We would really like to be able to use the BIM feature on standalone exports as well.

I’d echo - with caveat* - Gordon’s request.

*we would want to first be able to tailor what properties do (but more specifically don’t) get exported - which, (appreciated) could require a fairly comprehensive data-miner checkbox/selection interface.

checking parameters in rather than out would be better for us

Information Overload will result in this feature not being used

Bit puzzled as to what the feature is intended to be used for? It’s nowhere near the level of Navisworks type programmes in terms of BIM workflow, so I’m unclear when it would actually be useful.

my Interior department would NEVER use Navisworks as the visuals are to ugly

so being able to click on a chair and know the name and manufacturer can be useful

But do agree it would not have been my priority

Thanks for the feedback regarding our new BIM mode - I’ll be gladly forwarding all of it to our developers of course.

Agreed, but in the same way we’d also never use Navis for anything visual, I’d never use Enscape for “BIM”. You can’t select objects in Enscape can you? So essentially it’s just a list of what’s in the model - I already have that in Revit. I’m genuinely curious what the workflow is that it’s supposed to support?

Not correct, you can click objects in BIM mode to show their data. Just press B to enable BIM mode - boom, everything’s clickable.

Ah, that makes more sense, I didn’t get a chance to try it, as I’ve had to revert back to v2.6 because I’m having trouble with renders crashing in ultra mode

When will the BIM feature be available in VR?

we do “virtual tours” to walk our project models - screen-grab-snagging all along the way. To be able to select an element and get (at the very least) it’s ElementID - to aid in re-locating the problem once back in Revit, has already been imagined by my teams as an incredibly useful function.

well yes, reading my post back now, I phrased it poorly!

hi, its a great work, progressing every version, its good you have added this feature. if you can add slice the view in .exe options, it will be great with this BIM feature identifying the exact object ,along with highlights.

No ETA at the moment but I’ve gladly filed a feature request for this topic. Thank you for the additional feedback as well @archikrish81 , @snowyweston.
