Does anyone know why enscape light objects show in mirror reflections? They should be invisible.
I am using several rectangle area lights to light this bathroom scene and they are showing in the mirror’s reflection. This is not an isolated event, it happens in most renders I am doing.
Any help to get rid of these reflections would be great.
You can not make the light invisible only in reflections. We strongly advise you to use the area light shapes to match the scene’s lighting fixtures instead of “inventing” an area light that is magically floating in space.
This is a trade off between artistic/creational freedom and the guarantee that your image looks as plausible and predictable as possible. As non-specular-visible lights do not exist in reality, we chose the second option.
Sometimes there is a need to explore spatial designs and have them visualized through a rendering without knowing the exact lighting conditions of the space. If a lighting design has yet to be determined, “inventing” the lighting is sort of important in order to get a work-in-progress rendering.
If it wasn’t clear, although this is an old post, it’s still an issue
Can you kindly use google translate for example for your post to translate your message accordingly? Also, I’m not entirely sure if you replied to the thread you wanted to since you mentioned the video editor a couple of times?
If I am not mistaken V-Ray has an option to turn off reflections in mirrors so it is possible to program. This is extremally helpful feature when trying to create ambiance with soft light rather than a single hard light that washes out an area of the room particularly when reflected in a mirror. As this is an old post I’m wondering if there is a work around in the latest Enscape version?
Was going to ask why my lights weren’t showing up (I have only just begun), so looked at this forum and saw this post about not being able to turn off reflections, which I would also like to be able to do. Then suddenly my lights appeared and I like the way they look.
I’m very happy with the lighting in Enscape, think it looks realistic. I have just started learning, literally been only a few days. But I have a problem with not being able to turn the reflection of a light source off. I think people often choose to point a rectangle light at a feature to add some light, but that is a problem in Enscape if you can’t turn the reflection off. See attached, white rectangle showing in the wood. I know the light I used is too bright; I used one of the existing lights, so they are all the same, but the problem would still be there even if lights were more subdued. Thanks. I am hoping Enscape can do something about this, or offer some work-around. I’ve been able to turn the reflection of a light off in every other program I have used. Thank you. I’m enjoying Enscape.
Thank you I submitted my idea. I think sometimes it could look fussy to represent every single light fixture in a large commercial interior space. It could be a level of detail that is inappropriate for such a large space. But I also know I need to work harder to use lights that are actually there and that the results could be nice.
Glad to see it’s “planned,” but I’m not holding my breath. Priority is clearly focused on add-on’s that add to the bottom line. Namely, Impact, and most recently- Envision. With a dabble of AI Enhance hype thrown in for good measure- which will also be a paid add-on at some point.
It’s becoming clear that Enscape is more concerned with investing in itself, not its user satisfaction or product refinement unfortunately. If it doesn’t make money its not a priority apparently.
I’m sorry, but the excuse that “you want the result to be real to reality” is not valid. A renderer is not only used to create images of buildings; there are many other uses. I myself use it to render products for large beverage brand projects, and this lighting point constantly bothers me. In V-Ray, there is a simple option in the lighting settings to check or uncheck that makes the reflections visible or not. Is it so difficult to implement this in Enscape?
Sometimes, when comparing Enscape to other renderers, it gives the impression that it is extremely limited. Currently, what holds Enscape back is the image quality and ease of use, but as other competitors start to implement useful features that are extremely important, Enscape becomes irrelevant.
For me too, the problem of visible lights in reflections is impactful and limiting.
Moreover, the use of fill lights is strongly required to overcome the limitations of an engine, aimed at speed and not accuracy, like that of Enscape.
I use fill lights very often and I always fight hard not to let them be seen in some mirror, glass, metal object. The thing gets complicated, for obvious reasons, when I produce videos.
Happy to know that the problem is common, less in realizing that it has remained a dead letter.
