error api : 999

hello,

When i’m trying to render with more than 1 GTX580 and CUDA i have this error api 999.
I have installed the last Nvidia driver.

Any idea ?

How many is “more than 1”? My tests with up to 3 GPUs were fine. The specific error (999) doesn’t give much info, it’s just a generic CUDA error. Also, is this on any scene, or just a particular one?

Best regards,
Vlado

Hi Vlado,

Now it’s work .
I’ve trying with distributed rendering and it’s working fine . ( 1GPU in my Workstation and 2 GPU in a node )
Then after i have trying without DR but 3 GPU in my workstation and now it’s work .

I think someting in my windows isn’t activated before i use DR. Then DR have correct this and now everything is OK with or without DR and with or without more than 1 GPU ..

Thanks you for your time .

this error is back .
Even i use only 1 GPU, everytime i’m trying to render with CUDA it’s crashing with this error line code in Vray RT Render Server :
./src/ocl_tracedevice.cpp(1120) : Driver API error : 999

I’ve trying to update my driver and it’s the same crash with the same line .
It’s working with CPU
it’s building with Opencl and rendering. But it’s look like some GPU are bugged.
it’s crashing with CUDA

I open 3DSMAX, i’m setup the renderer to active shade and Vray RT
i setup CUDA
i start render and it’s carshing Vray RT server .

i have 3 GTX580 in this computer on 2 cubix xpander.

Any idea ?

Is that for any scene?

Best regards,
Vlado

yes .

I’m starting 3DSMAX2012 x64
I’m creating a sphere
Setup Active Shade and choosing VRAY RT 2.30.02
engine type : CUDA
I Hit Render

Find and solved !!

Ok my fault ..
I’ve take a look at my Cubix, because i have the idea that my GPU are dead or maybe not correctly plugged.
And i have see that the Electrics wire form the Cubix to the GPU are a little unplugged

I’ ve pushed on them, restart my computer and everything is ok now.

Thanks you, VRAY RT is working like a charm . It’s my hardware the fault .
