Fatal error rendering scene (perhaps due to vdenoise?)

Hi,

We had a couple of machines the other day which never completed a render. Kind of looks like it could be because of the vdenoise and/or the nvidia driver version. Do you have any ideas on what could’ve caused this?

[2017/May/2|18:04:00] V-Ray: VDenoise: Using device 0: GeForce GTX 970
[2017/May/2|18:04:00] V-Ray: VDenoise: Driver version 378.92
[2017/May/2|18:04:00] V-Ray: VDenoise: OpenCL compiled successfuly
[2017/May/2|18:04:01] V-Ray error: Fatal error rendering scene.

Full log attached. Please note that only lines prefixed with “>>>b” were outputted by Maya or V-Ray.

Would it be possible to get us the scene?

The artist having this issue archived the scene and uploaded it. I’ll send the download link to support@chaosgroup.com

Thanks Alex.

Can you please tell me the ticket number after you do, please? That would make it easier for me to find the link.

Certainly, it’s #880844

We just got this on another scene. Same V-Ray version, different graphics card:

[2017/May/4|15:04:37] V-Ray: VDenoise: Using device 0: Quadro K5200
[2017/May/4|15:04:37] V-Ray: VDenoise: Driver version 375.86
[2017/May/4|15:04:37] V-Ray: VDenoise: OpenCL compiled successfuly
[2017/May/4|15:04:38] V-Ray error: Fatal error rendering scene.

So far I’ve had no luck reproducing this here. Are you using a render manager? If yes -which one?

I was afraid this could be hard to reproduce, as we’ve only seen it sporadically.

We’re using Pixar’s Tractor and we’re rendering using Maya (meaning; not V-Ray standalone) on both Linux and Windows.
