(Fixed) [HOU-4186] Motion Blur via Deadline (VR Standalone)

Hi,

seams like vray Standalone can’t render proper motion blur :frowning:

In gui mode it works fine but when I send a vrscene to deadline via the deadline rop it breaks.

I really need some advice otherwise I’m really fucked :frowning:
The motion blur works when I put a convert SOP after the alembic but it breaks again when I’m putting a pack after…

I use Houdini 19.5 build 805 Indie
V-Ray for Houdini number:22672 hash:01b5f07 from 13 Mar 2024 07:36
V-Ray Core 6.20.05 [70b4f9a7] from 11 Mar 2024

Does local Standalone rendering working for you? I’ve exported vrscene file and rendered via command line and I don’t see any difference:

Hi @tobiasroesli , I’ve reproduced and reported the issue. Thank you for your feedback.

Hello @chakarov , can you make a prediction when its going to be fixed?

> can you make a prediction when its going to be fixed?

I can’t predict much, but I’m on it atm.

Thanks Jedi Programming Master @bdancer
May the Code be with you

Should work better in the next nightly build.

You’re my hero! So it looks like I’m able to render my project with motion blur  Thanks you made my day! Cheers!

Hi @tobiasroesli , is the fix work for you?

> no its the same as the version before

Weird… works for me on Windows and Linux… Hope we’ll be able to reproduce this somehow…

> Now I also got some weird behaviour with Deadline.

File doesn’t exist, not sure how it’s related to my changes.

I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

I had to much time pressure at friday to figure out what caused the problem. It’s not easy sometimes to be a one man show

I guess there could be a problem if you use the chaos deadline and the deadline plugin in the same scene.
Both worked alone. really weird behaviour. But like you said I think its not realated to your fix.

Cheers!

> is this problem related to:

Nope.

> It seams that the motion blur is working with 2 geometry samples but not with >2.

The issue is a bit different and the additional fix is under the code review now.
Thanks!

ok, I see, always glad to help and improve Vray

Hi again @tobiasroesli , this issue should be fixed in next nightly build.

Hi @chakarov , thanks, I’ll try it tomorrow

Did you change something in that scene? I can’t reproduce this. Everything works fine on my side with 22678 build.

No, not really, I just installed the new version and hit the render button. Then I saw that it’s still not rendering right. So I created a new Vray ROP but still no difference. I can test it on a different machine on monday but I doubt that it changes anything.
Do you have any other tipps or tricks how I could fix that somehow?

Hi @chakarov , I rendered a different scene then the test scene I did for solving the problem. With the other scene it is working like expected. Strange that the test scene is not working proper…

> Any idea what’s the problem?

Yes, use $FF instead of $F.

I see, that worked and made sense after your comment

So I guess the issue is resolved.

Thanks for the help!

Cheers
