Fog splotches with vray sky

Hi
Ive tried to get rid of some splotches caused when using fog for some volumes.
Im using max cam with vraysun and vraysky.

the only workaround ive found is to duplicate the skymat to the reflect/refract override slot and then turn of the sun in the original sky thats illuminating the scene.

Anyone know a solution to this?

Thanx
Peter

If you make the sun “invisible” does this fix it?

Best regards,
Vlado

Yes, thats the workaround im working with currently, but wouldt prefere to use the same skymat to both illuminate and reflect refract.

thanx for a quick respons.

Yep, you can do that - there is an “invisible” option in the VRaySun parameters; turn it off and use the same VRaySky everywhere.

Ah sorry then i misunderstood,

vraysun: invisible Ticked, still produces splotches.
vraysky: sun invisible Ticked, no splotches.

Thats why I have 2 vrayskymaps in the scene.

Invironment slot; vraysky ( for illumination ) = sun invisible Ticked
reflection/refraction override slot; vraysky = sun still visible

Thanx
peter

I see; but in a normal set up you’d leave the VRaySky to automatically pick up the sun and it will detect it’s invisible option and will render accordingly. You’d only need the different environment if you do a sunrise/sunset scene where the sun is actually visible to the camera. It is not a good idea to leave the sun visible in reflections/refractions, as that may cause issues with glossy reflections/refractions.

Best regards,
Vlado

Thanx for the reply

Ill let it autodetect, and keep away from the romantic sunset then
thanx a lot for helping me out.
