Fog

I can’t seem to get my fog right. I am not sure if fog or haze is the same, but I just want my scene to get a little fuzzy the further you go from the camera. How do I do this? I don’t like the white-out horizon line I get with anything I try. I set the height to cover my scene and the distance pretty far out.

You should try vrayaerialperspective instead. You will need vray sun to get it to work.

Okay, I?ll give it a try, thanks!

Pro Tip. Set your Sun to Include with no elements affected. You can light your scene with an HDRI and have only the vray sun generating the effect.

I will try that, thank you!

Okay, I have no clue what you mean. How to you set your sun to include with no elements effected? I added a volume fog and I am not seeing any of those options. I added the sun, but that is as far as I can get.

EIther is supported in the Progressive render, correct?

For aerialperspective to work you will need vraysun in your scene, but sometimes its not desired as you might want to use only hdri as your lighting. In that case you can add sun, select it and click exclude under vraysun parameters. Standard its on exclude and no objects selected (so it includes all objects in your scene), but if you switch it to include and don’t add any objects there, it will not affect anything except aerialperspective. It will not create lights/shadows, but you can change its position to control the overall look of your fog/haze effect.

The boundary blog has a good tutorial for vrayenvironmentfog.
