Gray Background

I am having strange things happen… Let us say I have a scene with a white max environment and a v-ray sun, using a vray camera. If I render the scene should I get a white view? No matter how I adjust my camera everything is still a gray.

It isn’t my monitor because by dialog background is white. I am running this test because my v-ray camera has never really matched real world values. I have an exterior scene, using a v-raysun/sky, and a v-ray camera. If I set my vray camera to something like ISO 100, shutter 1/500, and f/stop 8, I should get a pretty good exposed scene. I don’t; my scene is black so I have to drop my shooter down to something like 35.

My materials are good and my v-ray settings are good, so what is happening? I have MAX gamma at 2.2 and v-ray at linear 1,1,1. I save my image out as a vrayimg and I check the curve or sRGB.

The below screen grab is showing my shutter speed at 80, which might work for this scene, but seems awfully low.

maybe you have somehow activated the exposure controls under max environment settings, its worth a look.

I was playing with that the other day, but I am sure I turned it off. I doubt that is it because my camera has never really worked the way I thought it should (real world). I just played with it until it looked good. When the scene is don’t I’ll check out the exposure.

nope. MAX’s exposure was off.

is it only this scene or any new scene?

looks like you have affect background checked in your color mapping settings. that will cause what you are experiencing.
