When sun is at certain position I get soft shadows no matter if I check “ground shadows” option or not.
I suppose that sun is behind clouds and this checkbos doesn’t work…
I have to disable clouds or move sun eslwhere to get sharp shadows…
Whith clouds - no matter “ground shadows” is ON or OFF:
without clouds:
The ground shadows option means that the clouds will cast shadows on the ground, so what you’re getting is correct, meaning you’d have to tweak the cloud density settings or other cloud movement options in order to get a
more specifically targeted blend of sharp (unoccluded by clouds) and more diffused shadows
But the “ground shadows” option is UNCHECKED. So clouds shouldn’t cast shadows. Why clouds cast shadows when this checkbox is OFF?
Sorry for misunderstanding; I think maybe I possibly wrongly thought that the clouds affected the gi regardless, so causing the effect when the sun is blocked.
Maybe that is the case, or it’s unintended behaviour.
Sounds similar to this thread. Check vlado’s comment about it.
Well, it would be much better if it indeed was an on-off-switch for the ground shadows. Right now it is very confusing, I still don’t really know what it does.
