[ HOU-2490 ] Vray hair Embree on/off inconsistencies.

We are seeing inconsistencies when rendering V-Ray hair objects depending on whether Embree is on or off and with smoothing on and off.
Each of the permutations renders very different. I would expect them to all look pretty much the same besides the curve smoothness.
Embree on with no smoothing is particularly bad, with nasty artifacts.
