So I’ve been away for over a year in cloud rendering, back in my old job I used it intensely. What the hell has happened?
I just sent 130 frames to render, each frame takes 40sec on my PC to complete. I had 500 credits available. 8 out of 130 completed so job is now paused because it’s used up all 500 credits. This would have cost about 5 credits in old money.
So how do I now buy more credits to finish off the task? I don’t want a subscription.

Hi, Kris here, Product Manager for Cloud. We have recently transitioned to a new credit system called Chaos Credits, which can be used for both AI services and rendering.
To simplify the system, we have moved to using whole numbers, meaning the individual credit value has changed. While we no longer offer perpetual credits, we are currently developing solutions that aim to provide a similar experience to the previous system.
For our rendering users, we have introduced specific annual subscription packages of 30,000 and 60,000 credits. These are available for immediate use and expire after one year. You can view them here: Chaos Cloud – Cloud Rendering Made Simple | Chaos
We have also re-rendered all of our old sample jobs, which you can find here: Chaos Cloud | Sample Scenes. The dollar cost for these remains consistent with previous pricing.
Furthermore, by purchasing the 60,000-credit annual package, users will see a reduction of over 22% in the price per credit compared to the old system (when comparing equivalent values, as 60,000 new credits equal approximately 1,333 old credits).
We are proud to note that we have maintained our Cloud Rendering pricing since 2019.

Am I right in saying 60,000 credits are €1,000?

OK I get it now. But if I want to just add 200 credits to finish off a render job I have to subscribe to get the credits then cancel the subscription? I wont be using this all year round its for occasional jobs that need a bit of help with.
This new system is Ridiculous, absolute nonsense…
Just chiming in to say that this new system is a huge downgrade. We are a small architecture, not a visualization firm, and our rendering needs are intermittent, not an even load every month.
I used to buy the $100 credit package that would last for several projects. Now the $100 annual package distributes a comically small amount of the new credits per month - it was not even enough to finish two fairly simple interior renderings.
Now my only option to get more is to buy a huge yearly subscription that I wouldn’t be using for 10/12 months a year. Based on my usage so far even the $300 subscription wouldn’t be enough for my needs in a busy month.
I completely understand the desire to raise prices, but the new subscription system is enough to make me consider moving to another platform. Chaos cloud was a big part of my workflow and is completely untenable for me now.
If I choose a 60000 plan, can I use all credits for just cloud rendering, or are some of them only usable with AI?
You can use them for both. All for rendering, all for AI or a mixture.
im thinking about too, do you know another good plataform?
I spend more money and have less renderings is the straight and simple result of this change. Maybe it works for some of their customers but def not all of them. SO many negative reviews and nothing is going to change. Chaos.
Please bring back the old system of credits for users that have no use for AI rubbish. I have to use your Chaos Cloud intermittently, previously I’d just buy a whole batch of credits (depending on the size of the project, or what I could afford) and it would be sitting there perpetually for me to use as and when I need it. Now it’s looking like the credits I buy will vanish in to thin air, and they’re not worth anything like what they used to be anyway.
I have absolutely no use for your AI systems. I just want to be able to render, and buy credits that don’t magically disappear - this just looks like Chaos is trying their best to rip their customers off.
Where else is decent for rendering, people? Rebus farm? I’m going elsewhere.
