On Vray 1.500 and Maya 2010, like the Max OSX problem I saw on here last year, V-Ray only uses 1 core out of 8 for the Light Cache process.

What is the number of light cache passes? Also, make sure that you have not explicitly modified the number of rendering threads in the V-Ray settings.
