I was doing some testing and i was trying to learn if theres any faster way to turn off/on objects by layers or groups in scene outliner of vantage.
first i tried putting obejcts in different layers and exporting the whole file as 1 vrscene. but the vrscene discarded layer names and shows as individual objects and not under layer name.
then i tried grouping different objects and then exporting the file as vrscene. but again the objects show as different objects and not under one group.
each time vantage objects section looks like this
so whats the correct way to do it.
I noticed that when i export forest objects they come under one name and u can turn off the whole forest object with one click.
how to do something like that with other objects in scene
Just use the “scene explorer” instead of the “layer explorer” and create some dummy objects to parent to.
It could be an empty mesh or a “Dummy” object.
Hello,
sorry to resume this old thread
.
I just want to inform you that this “trick” doesn’t work when the 3ds Max renderer is set to Corona.
If I change the renderer from Corona to VRay for the same .max scene, then Vantage is able to recognize the parent objects.
.
A proper layers system or this tricks are a MUST for any arch-viz project.
Without, to work in Vantage and Corona is too complicated.
.
Would you like to fix it?
Hi Francesco, thanks for reporting this! This is now logged as [CMAX-1532]. I think it may be happening because the Corona <> Vantage integration is not completed yet (e.g. exporting animations is missing). Hopefully we can fix it soon!
Hello Marcin! Nice to see you here =)
.
Thank you!
Also, before to add new features, Vantage really need a better layer system, like in 3ds Max.
.
Or, better is if the 3ds max Layer system is passed directly into Vantage =)
But, to be able to recognize parenting objects is better than nothing.
.
See you!
