At the moment each frame takes anything from 35-45 minutes to render. I have to do about 500 frames in all, so I’m really hoping my problem can be solved without increasing the rendertime too much…
Thanks, but I have a couple of moving objects in the scene and opted to do the calculations frame by frame instead. The time spent on calculating irradiance maps is only a fraction of the actual render (granted, it would of course shorten the render somewhat over 500 frames)
The thing is, I have a couple of moving objects in the scene that cast very long shadows, so from what I understand I wouldn’t gain tremendously from compositing… I’ll try fiddling with the settings based on the long flickering post. Thanks!
Calculation of LC on Single Frame will flicker for sure, We normaly use Fly though and Pre Calced IMAP and then Rerender the moving Objects (Which WIll Flicker) soloed with the rest of the room / scene removed or set to Matte and then compsotite. The Animation Pass system takes a long time and so does your method because you have to load and filter the imaps for every frame.
Ok. I’ve now tried doing it with animation (prepass, then rendering) for the Ir-map and fly-through for the LC, which definitely helped on the flicker (though it’s still noticeable), but also made the image much darker (see below).
I think I’ll try to set the IR-map to multiframe incremental and see how that turns out. I did a testframe and the lighting wasn’t darker using this method.
