Invisible object affect another object using Vray dirt?

Is there no way to get an invisible object to affect another object when using Vraydirt? I was hoping to use the Vray dirt as a displacement but I don’t want the object that is causing the Vraydirt visible in the scene…only the resulting effect of it.

EDIT: make the nodes invisible through opacity.

You could also use the object properties and VRay Properties to exclude your object from shadows, make it invisible to camera, etc. But this can potentially lead to artefacts and issues down the road so keep this in mind.

Isn’t that the case by default? I just had the issue that I had invisible light discs close to a ceiling. Dirt picked them up and a dark circle appeared where the light disc was. I didn’t want that, so I had to turn that off in the parameters of the VrayDirt mat, check “ignore insivible objects”.

*edit*

My dirt was on the ceiling material. I suppose you want the object to be invisible that has the dirt map.
