Irradiance map question

Hi all

I am rendering out an irradiance map for an animation (rendering every 5th frame, using ‘Incremental add to current map’. The problem is my render crashes about halfway through the render. Do I have to re-render the irradiance map from the begining again, or can I just set the render running again using ‘skip existing frames’ and ‘Incremental add to current map’? :?

depends if the irmap has saved anything, do you have save maps per frame checked?

It seems the irradiance map has been saved so far, approx 6MB in size…So I’m guessing I must have save maps per frame checked although I duno where this is

its checked by default.
I would recommend re-doing the whole irmap, you tend to end up with some errors if you start it again

It is a check-box in the Indirect illumination (GI) rollout.

Thanks jacksc02 and Candelero. I’ll try re-rendering it from the beginning

The other workaround would be to render the IR map for the animation in passes, say in quarters, and then merge them in the IRmapviewer.

Should you be using multiframe incremental instead of incremental add?
