looking for high quality wood textures

Does anyone know where I can get/purchase high quality veneer textures for:
olive
cherry
mahogany
oak

does not matter if they are not free, most important is that they are of high quality and have a few variants. Thanks for your help

http://www.veneerselector.com have loads of wood textures - depends how high res you mean when you say high res though…

They are not tileable yet, but here are the biggest woodscans i found so far (most are about 3.200x2000)…and the best thing is they are absolutely free :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope it helps.

:!:

@instinct - ok you win!

veneerselector I knew about. the other link is fantastic, thanks instinct

BUT:

still looking for larger pieces. Although the textures are high res, the actual real size is not so big, same as with veneerselector. I can of course do some paintwork on them to enlarge, but I prefer real large photographed samples to cut away rather than to tile.

btw, does anyone know if it is possible to make a shader that changes color depending on viewing angle+orientation. Many veneers have this property.

To make more clear what I mean: if you keep a sample under the same viewing angle and rotate it 180 degrees, the light and darker tones should switch.

I have these and they are very large samples (2 meters high)

Regarding the colourchange. Simply use a falloff material. to change them according tho the angle between camera-vector and surface normal.

thanks, I forgot about these, I once downloaded the sample and that realy looked good. I build floor texture from it

Unfortunately they don’t have the type of woods I am looking after.

@instinct: what you mean doen’t work, because the dark-light pattern should switch for example when you change your view from 45 degrees to -45 degrees. With a falloff, you cannot make a difference between these two.
