Mac Pro configuration

Hello every one, long time since I wrote something here in the formu.
I have a question, I’m Planning to buy a Mac Pro but still cant decide between a 1.5g or a 512MB video card, will it make some difference in render time? or render time is associated to cores speed?

thanks a lot…also when i install windows…wich version is better? xp 32 bits, 64 bits, or vista 64 bits?

The Graphic carddosn’t matter, but CPU speed for render speed and RAM for complex scenes and large textures.

A 64bit OS is need to get max. possible RAM usage (approx. 3.6GB if 5GB or more are installed). I use XP64 and I’m happy, but Vista64 sould be ok too since SP1.

thanks for your answer Micha, i would take note of your advice. Currently i’m using a MBP 2.5Ghz Core2duo, with 4Gb ram and XP 64 edition.
