MAC Users - System Requirements

Hi-

I am currently shopping for a new macbook pro and not sure which one I should get. Apple now offers the M4 chip.

Is the M4 Pro chip enough? or do I need to get the M4 Max?

I understand I need at least 48gb of memory, but what about the GPU? is 20-core GPU enough? or do i need more?

I think my biggest hurdle has been trying to figure out if i need the m4 pro or m4 max and what GPU I need?

I was running enscape on a macbook pro prior to this, and it would lag a bit and sometimes quit unexpectedly, but it did work most of the time. however, that said, i dont want to run into that issue again, so i want to be sure I dont just get the bare minimum, but get the proper amount needed for things to run smoothly.

thank you!

Hey! I have a macBook Pro M1 Pro (16GB) and I can tell you that the Enscape runs very well in it. The M4 is already a very big jump, so any versions that catch will be enough to use the escape quietly.

Hi.
It all depends on your projects in first place. Crashes should not happen regardless of CPU/GPU you have on mac - if you can reproduce and give us more details, please do so.

If you have had M1 Pro previously, M4 Pro will be significantly faster. But you don’t need Max version to run “typical” projects. If there were lags here and there occasionally, they will probably be there on M4 Max too, just less disturbing.
I personally see it as follows: if M1 Pro was working fine, M4 Pro will do it better and be fine++. M4 Max is not a must, but will of course give more FPS.
